Yesterday Apple updated their iOS to version 4.3 for all their current portable devices and one generation back. The update was two days ahead of the iPad2 launch, and two days ahead of the promised launch of the OS update. If you have an iPad and you haven't updated yet, you should. Aside from the fact that it fixes some security issues, and thankfully does speed up Safari's performance, Apple has finally given users the choice to set the function of the slider switch.
Many of us got used to the convenience of that slider switch controlling the screen rotation before Apple took it away when they updated the iPad to iOS 4. We no longer have to wait through the time-wasting animation of the app drawer sliding up, swipe to the left, and touch a software button. Yay for the immediacy of the hardware switch!
